Thanks to the generosity of the Cheshire Agricultural Society, “The Church at the Show” has been part of the Royal Cheshire Show since 1991. In that time it has continued to grow and develop, and now embraces representatives from all the mainstream Christian denominations. The main event for the Church each year is the Opening Service held on the evening before the Show, attended by around 300 people. The Church is an important part of rural life, with around 40% of church goers each week attending rural churches. Despite being unable to meet in church buildings during lockdown, the Church has continued to be active in rural communities, supporting those who are shielding and self-isolating, and providing worship in a variety of ways, including using digital media to enable this.
