John Platt Scholarship

Travel Scholarship for Young Person (18 – 35)

The Cheshire Agricultural Society is offering a £2,000 travel scholarship to any young person (aged 18 – 35) residing or working in the county of Cheshire, who wishes to improve their education and/or experience through an opportunity to travel.

The John Platt Travel Scholarship has been created in recognition and memory of the late John Platt, OBE, DL, Hon DSc, FRAgS. John’s support of the agricultural community of Cheshire through his many past roles within the County are well recorded. John was passionate about the development of young farmers and young people in the industry as a whole. John chaired the Cheshire Agricultural Society for nearly 30 years and played a pivotal role in the co-ordination and development of The Royal Cheshire County Show.

John was a keen traveller and believed that much of his personal and professional success was attributed to having had the opportunity to travel and discover new horizons.

Applicants should be aged between 18 and 35 years old at the time of travel and should reside in the county of Cheshire or be employed in the agricultural community and related industries of Cheshire at the time of travel.
