Brian Mellor

Multi award-winning Brian Mellor is one of the UK’s leading demonstration chefs and founded the prestigious Harthill cookery school in Cheshire. Brian is a MasterChef of Great Britain and has enjoyed a distinguished career covering all areas of the hospitality industry.

Formerly executive chef at Granada TV where he served fine dining to dignitaries and celebrities in the penthouse at the studio in Manchester, he then went on to develop teams of chefs cooking in brasseries and country inns. Brian is also a champion of new talent through the NW young chef of the year contest which he started in 2001 and is the Chef ambassador for Cheshire College South and West.

Brians cookery school was awarded Britain’s best small cookery school and is one of only 10 Weber grill Academy partners in the UK. His new venture Cheshire Chefs launched in October 2022. Brian runs the demonstration kitchen compering the chefs as well as cooking up some delicious recipes of his own.

“I have a long association with the show, my first was as a 16-year-old working for a caterer who was looking after the Hospitality for an exhibitor, I carried a lot of water containers that year! My career as a chef means I’ve grown up with many of the artisans and food producers who come to the show and as a demonstrator in Food Live it’s been a pleasure to showcase their produce over the years.

I always like to interact with the audience, meet them and have some fun. As well as great dishes over the years, there’s been some hilarious near misses, baked Alaska mainly! But we always manage to pull something off and make some memories. I’m looking forward to welcoming old friends and new faces to the Food Live stage this year.” – Brian Mellor comments.
